Welcome to the House of Jewell

WHERE FINE ART

MEETS FASHION.

Fashion, Fine Art and Music - A visual representation of intelligence, vulnerability, and action.

- Paula Jewell -

House of Jewell's premier couture collection intentionally places sustainability at the forefront of the label. Designed with free flowing upcycled fabrics, paired with bespoke stitching and a dreamy ocean color palette, each one-of-one garment is a piece of wearable art inspired by African water spirit, Mami Wata. The collection is a fluid story of elemental beauty and seductive danger, empowered by protection and intuitive strength — qualities all aligned with the eponymous African deity. This new launch also honors the essence of three generations of female artists who inspired Paula to start her new label.

In addition to SS21, House of Jewell is a introducing a Sustainability Pledge in efforts to disrupt greenwashing that has taken hold of the sustainability industry. Created to encourage shoppers to question unethical practices and demand transparency, the pledge raises consumer awareness and encourages dialogue around shopping more sustainably. House of Jewell also works to reach hundreds of individuals through a community art program, created by Paula, called A.R.T.S: A Roadmap to Success. Local communities ranging from middle schools to nursing homes have been exploring artistic expression to deepen emotional intelligence and self love across the nation in states, such as Oklahoma, Georgia and New York.

Oklahoma Native, Paula Jewell, attended the Savannah College of Art and Design for three years majoring in Fashion Design and minoring in Painting before making a move to New York to start her fashion career. Paula immediately began work for Bibhu Mohapatra as apart of the design team for the Fall 2020 collection. From there, doors quickly opened allowing Paula to learn from Prabal Gurung, one of the industry's most influential designers. Her work for Gurung prepared her to launch her own design career. From hand painted fabric prints to lively portraits, she renders her interpretation of beauty and transcendence. Jewell aspires to have a profession creating fabric prints, mixed media portraits and clothing that bridge the gap between fine art and fashion. Her art is a labour of love, with months of dedication spent on each work of art to ensure the highest level of craftsmanship.
